This learning activity provides a review of abbreviations, weights, and liquid conversions used for medication administration. It is designed to supplement textbook and classroom information.

This task was developed by high school and postsecondary mathematics and health sciences educators, and validated by content experts in the Common Core State Standards in mathematics and the National Career Clusters Knowledge & Skills Statements. It was developed with the purpose of demonstrating how the Common Core and CTE Knowledge & Skills Statements can be integrated into classroom learning - and to provide classroom teachers with a truly authentic task for either mathematics or CTE courses.

In this module you will learn the basics of Medical Math and how to calculate basic medication dosages. We cover the three methods for calculating simple dosages from physician orders: ratio and proportion, dimensional analysis and simple formulas.

This course introduces nursing students to the language of the Health Sciences and medicine with emphasis on body systems, prefixes, suffixes, root terms, and spelling. Upon completion, students will be able to analyze words structurally and demonstrate a correlation of the word elements with basic anatomy, physiology, and disease processes of the body.

This component explains specific terminology used by workers in health care and public health. This is NOT a course in data representation or standards.
